Josh Moore is a research software engineer working on open infrastructure for biological imaging data. He joined the Open Microscopy Environment (OME) in the mid-2000s, where he designed the OMERO server to enable scalable management and sharing of microscopy data.
He later led the team that built the Image Data Resource (IDR), one of the first large-scale general purpose repositories for biological imaging datasets. Building on that work, he helped initiate the development of OME-Zarr, a cloud-native format for larger-than-memory imaging datasets, and currently serves as the specification editor.
Josh is a founding member of The Image Cooperative, where he works on sustainable, community-governed software and standards for imaging data.
