Kevin obtained his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Dagmar Iber in the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at ETH Zurich where his primary research focus was the development of new computational approaches for studying the biophysical principles underlying morphogenesis using imaging and molecular profiling data. He found his open source calling while developing and leading community-driven projects such as napari and SpatialData.

As a founding member of the Image Cooperative, Kevin is developing and maintaining open source scientific software tools. He is particularly excited about visualization and analysis of larger-than-memory imaging data and differentiable biophysical simulations. Outside of work, you can find him skiing and climbing in the mountains.
